Some airlines may request you to enter your passport number when booking an international trip, but this information is not always required at the time of booking.​

Passport Expiring?
Passport Validity. The maximum period of time that a visitor may stay in Mexico without a formal visa is six months. Therefore your passport, regardless of country of origin, should be valid for a minimum period of six months, however long you intend to stay to avoid any potential problems at the port of entry.

Expedited 2-3 weeks

Every traveler arriving in Mexico by air, regardless of age, is required to present a valid passport for entry into Mexico.

​
What You Need to Apply

A completed DS-11 form, link above.
-
One 2”x 2” passport photo; Costco $5.
-
Evidence of child's U.S. citizenship; example birth certificate
-
Evidence of parental relationship; example birth certificate
-
Parent(s) identification and photocopy; front & back of identification.

Provide parental consent; see below.
-
Submit your complete application in person; see below.

Pay applicable fee.

Point #6: Show Parental Consent

Both parents/guardians must authorize the issuance of the child's passport. The best way to do this is for both parents/guardians to go with the child in person to apply for the passport.

​If one parent is unable to appear they can give permission by completing Form DS-3053 “Statement of Consent." You must submit the completed form with the child's passport application.

The parent that cannot go with the child must:

Sign and date Form DS-3053 in the presence of a certified notary public,

AND
-
Submit a photocopy of the front and back side of the ID that they present to the notary public with Form DS-3053.

Point #7: Submit your Completed Application
Inside the United States:-
You and your child must submit your completed application, including citizenship evidence, photocopy of ID, photo, and fees, in person at a passport acceptance facility, link above.
